Introduction to 100 Days of Kane, PA
This is Alumni Weekend – the unofficial holiday of Kane, PA. Our town has been getting ready and you can feel the anticipation when you walk outside. The welcome banner hangs with pride over Fraley Street. It’s like having your mom and dad standing with outstretched arms at the front door waiting to say “Welcome home!”
Our town will be bustling with alumni and soon to be alumni. Our friends and loved ones will be traveling from all over the country to spend a weekend reminiscing and making new memories with us here.
Our sense of pride in our community is like no other place I’ve lived. When something happens to one person it feels like it happens to us all, doesn’t it? We are connected to each other through our stories.
I’ve been trying to think of the perfect words to describe what it’s like to live here but I come up short every time. Which is when I knew I needed to share our stories. So today, the beginning of Alumni Weekend, kicks off the 100 Days of Kane, PA Project. I’ll be sharing stories every day about our town, our people and our history. 100 days to connect, inspire and spread a little joy through who we are to each other. Stories from the past, present and maybe some insight into where we are going as a community.
I hope you join me on this journey. You can find the stories on our website www.kanepa.com and our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feeds. Every Saturday, the Kane Republican will be featuring a recap. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share the stories of this place I love and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds because the stories are what brought me back home to Kane, PA.
