Welcome to Kane, Pennsylvania - the Black Cherry capital of the world. Kane has a rich history and a diversified economic base largely related to natural resources. We are located on Route 6 and nestled in the heart of the Allegheny National Forest. Because we are at nature’s doorstep, we have access to some of the best outdoor recreation found in the United States. The warm summer months provide plenty of opportunities for golfing, swimming, hiking, biking, fishing, camping and more. The crisp autumn air is perfect for bird watching, geocaching and foliage tours. With an average snowfall of 105", winter enthusiasts enjoy snowshoeing, cross country skiing or snowmobiling.
For those that prefer a different type of adventure, there are several museums, wineries, festivals and other events in the area that happen throughout the year. During the last weekend of June, thousands of people visit Kane to visit the only juried art show in the region, Art in the Wilds. We guarantee there is an activity that you will love.
In the fall of 2006, members from the Kane Chamber of Commerce, the Kane Area Industrial Development Corporation (KAIDC) and Kane Area Revitalization Enterprise (KARE) groups met to discuss the possibility of creating one organization that would work towards revitalizing the community, supporting existing and new businesses and providing economic opportunities to secure the long term future of the Kane Area.
On February 3, 2007, the collaboration became official when an executive director was hired for the Kane Area Development Center. Because of this new strategy, the community needs are better served. This office is essentially a “one stop shop” for new and existing residents, tourists, and businesses of all sizes. Whether you are looking for area attractions, business referrals, business start up assistance, a copy or fax service or even a friendly face, we can certainly be of assistance.
In addition to a full time director, the office employs part time assistants who help develop the community calendar, develop marketing materials, and act as ambassadors for the Kane community.
