I think the candy company Sue mentioned was owned by our neighbors, C. A. and Helen Langhurst. Our family lived on Clay St. and the Langhursts lived on the corner of Clay and Greeves Sts. I’m not remembering the name of their company but I know that it was located on the second floor of a building on the west side of Fraley St. just south of Field St. and they sold their candy at The Nut Shop which, at that time, was located on the north corner of Fraley and Field Sts. I remember one Eastertime when we were in elementary school, C. A. and Helen gave a tour of their candy company to my two younger sisters, Margie and Diane and me and allowed each of us to place an order for a chocolate Easter rabbit.

The name of the candy company the Langhursts founded was Helen Marie Candies and they were delicious! Can you imagine being a kid and having candy makers living two doors from you? The Langhursts were so kind to all of us. They were the sweetest!
