It’s Wednesday night so it’s once again stories from the Kane Historic Preservation Society! You asked for the story of the Penn Kane Hotel and Dick Bly and Wendy Oakes tell all about this notable building on the corner of Fraley and Greeves Streets.
Today is part 3 and the final day of sharing stories about the 1985 tornado. Kane Fire Chief Tim Holt tells the story about being at the fire station when the tornado came through, how they responded and about a few of the town leaders who he remembers really as really getting things done.
Today we have part 2 of stories about the tornado. Rob and Becki Merry moved to Kane with their 3 children – Melissa, Mike and Matt- in the summer of 1984. They lost their home in the tornado of 1985 and really experienced the community of Kane helping them rebuild.
When talking with people about stories of Kane, the tornado of 1985 came up time and time again. So, for the next couple of days we will hear stories from people about their experiences.
