It’s Wednesday night, so you know what that means- it’s Kane history night at the Depot! Tonight Dick Bly shares stories about Holgate Brothers Company, one of the oldest wooden toy company in the USA, and their connection to Kane.
The Holmes Poster Advertising Company and Kane Family Drive-In have something in common and that’s the Holmes family! Today Ann Holmes Chapman and Mary Holmes share stories about both. Enjoy watching- they will be sure to bring back great memories!
Today Becky Porkolab and Keith Reigel share stories about Pickleball in Kane. Keith has even medaled in Senior State Pickleball Tournaments! The courts in Kane are painted with both tennis and Pickleball lines and it’s a big thing happening right here in Kane.
In Kane, people are always finding ways to help each other out. Today Tonia Hartzell shares the story about how “Cleaning Out Your Closets” got started. By the way, this is hobby for Tonia- something she does in her spare time- and it makes a huge difference for families in Kane and beyond. Dave and Judy Carlson raised 6 children in Kane and today we hear from 3 of them. Amy Burton, Julia Anderson and Katie Dupree share stories about growing up in a big family and neighborhood full of other kids their age. They love Kane and so do we!
Brock Benson is Kane’s new superintendent and today he shares some stories with us about his connection to Kane, why he loves it here and what he is looking forward to this school year.
Maddie Stanisch is a Kane native who moved back home after college to work in the environmental science field. She is also an artist who displays her graphite sketches at ArtWorks on the Summit uptown. Today she shares stories about what she loves about being in Kane.
It’s Wednesday night so that means it’s history night in Kane! Tonight Wendy Oakes from the Kane Historic Preservation Society shares stories about some of the Kane family artifacts: the Washington chair, the tea set and General Kane’s battle sword.
The Lutheran Home is a place we are grateful to have in Kane. Today we talk with their chaplin, Pastor David Pflieger, who moved to Kane to serve at the Lutheran Home in 1995. He has touched many people’s lives during really vulnerable times and will share what that has meant to him.
He also has some pretty cool stories to share about animals he has seen out in nature while living here.
