We asked what stories you wanted to hear and there was a request for stories about our founders and their early lives. Soooooo, Wendy Oakes fills us in about the Kanes. They are good ones!
Logging is a huge part of Kane’s foundation and some of you have asked for stories about Kane-based lumber families. Today Judi Cook shares stories of how her Novosel grandparents came to Kane from Croatia and her memories of growing up by the log yard. It’s another inspiring story of courage and grit, a few of the characteristics our amazing town is made of!
Summer in Kane equals baseball in Kane for so many of us. Last year the Little League went to the World Series and played international teams! They are on track to do that again this summer having just won the district championship last week. So, we thought we’d focus on a more recent story and hear from some of the players who were at the Little League World Series last year.
Today we talked with Reese Novosel, Carson Whiteman, Harley Morris and Luke Ely about playing senior league baseball this summer and what it was like going to the Little League World Series last summer. Here’s hoping they make new Kane history this summer!
Mr. Jim Sirianni retired this year after 42 years of teaching in the Kane School District. He grew up in Kane and moved back here because of his family roots.

One of the awesome things about living in Kane, PA is how close you get with the kids in your neighborhood growing up. After school and all summer- day and night- were spent with the same group of kids, playing outdoor games like spotlight and kick the can. Or just running all around until your parents yelled for you to come inside.

Penny Barber told a story about how the people in Kane made all the difference for her and her family when her son Chris was in the Pittsburgh Hospital years ago.
The football team even took a bus down to visit him and walked in his room two by two, just like on game day. ❤️

Kane pride is strong when it comes to our high school sports! Watch Ange Costanzo III, who has a legacy of amazing athletes in his family, tell stories about being a KHS student athlete.
We’ve got an incredible history here in Kane, PA and every Wednesday night a group of people get together at the Depot across from the New Thompson House to make sure that history stays alive.
Tonight Dick Bly and John Marconi share the story of how this group ended up at the Depot (it was saved!), how it was renovated and how the last passenger rides were in the 1960s.
Mrs. Espin was born and raised in Kane, PA. Last weekend was her 70th class reunion!
Her parents both immigrated from Italy and loved this town. Today she shared stories with us about all of the kindness showed to both of her parents. Her mom lived to be 103!
