OWNER / AGENT SECTION: (To be completed only by the Property Owner OR Agent on behalf of the Property Owner)

  1. I hereby certify that I am the owner of the property listed on Section “B” of this Application. I understand that submission of this form grants authorized representatives from Jones Township access to this property to inspect and conduct tests of the structure(s) under demolition.
  2. I further certify that the information presented on applicable application(s), form(s), all specifications, and/or drawings are accurate and true to my belief and knowledge.
  3. I further certify that the owner has authorized me to create and file this Application as his agent, and that I will present a true and correct copy of this certification to the Owner.

Demolition permits must be obtained from the Municipal Building Official prior to the demolition of any existing building or structure. This permit is separate from that required for construction, alteration or renovations of existing buildings.

Please note that receipt of a UCC demolition permit does not relieve the permit holder of compliance responsibilities under other state or federal laws and regulations, including but not limited to: asbestos remediation, advanced notification to the PA Department of Environmental Protection and the US Environmental Protection Agency of demolition work, historic preservation and the capping of any sewer and water connections.

Any person desiring to demolish a building or structure must:

  • Complete an APPLICATION FOR DEMOLITION PERMIT.
  • Provide two (2) copies of a site plan detailing the following information:
    • Size and location of all buildings or structures to be demolished, distances to property lines
and distances to sidewalks, pavement and curbs where they abut property lines.
    • Size and location of any existing buildings or structures that will remain on the site.
    • Areas to be filled to existing grade and seeded or to be fenced and otherwise protected in anticipation of new construction.
    • Location and dimensions and construction details when Section 3306 of the International Building Code requires pedestrian protection.
  • Pay a fee of $100 per structure to be demolished (by check or money order payable to “Township of
    Jones”.)
  • The applicant must notify the Building Code Official at least 48 hours prior to any demolition work.
  • The contractor must submit copies of disposal weight receipts within five (5) business days.
Also, please be aware of the regulations concerning the proper disposal of demolition wastes. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) regulates demolition and renovation operations under the National Emission Standard (“NESHAP”) for asbestos. Nearly all demolition projects, regardless of the presence of asbestos, require a ten (10) day advanced notification to the DEP and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This requirement applies to all public, institutional, commercial and industrial structures and individual residential buildings having more than four (4) dwelling units, and any group of two (2) or more residential dwellings under common control. These regulations impose extensive measures for control of emissions during demolition operations and subsequent waste removal.
