SUMMARY:Silence in Community (Oct. 8 - 13)
DESCRIPTION:Silence in Community: Four-Night Retreat beginning on October 8th  and ends on October 13th- Experiencing silence in community allows our souls to settle and our senses to awaken\, so that we might tune in anew to God’s voice. This retreat begins with a brief time of community building and getting to know one another\, before entering into silence. Throughout the retreat\, we gather for morning and evening prayer daily\, including holy communion\, and to share meals. Each retreat participant will also meet daily one-on-one with a trained Spiritual Director\, who provides a listening ear and gentle guidance for the retreat time. It is a powerful experience to be in God’s presence together\, experiencing a sense of community that forms beyond words.  Retreat Leaders Companions on the Road\, a group of contemplative friends\, gathers to share silence in community three times each year: a two-night introduction to silence; a four-night “growing deeper” experience (this retreat!); and a seven-night experience of extended silence.  Lay persons and clergy from all traditions are welcome to participate. DESCRIPTION:The Kane Garden club is hosting the 4th Annual Carved Pumpkin Walk at Evergreen Park in Kane!  Once again\, people may stroll the in-park road where they can enjoy hundreds of illuminated carved pumpkins\, scarecrows\, picture taking spots\, food\, games and so much more.  Set in the evening autumn beauty of Evergreen park\, there will be entrances and exits on Birch Street and Park Avenue where everyone can experience creatively carved pumpkins and fun activities throughout the length of the park.

DESCRIPTION:Youth Ministry Training – \n2 Day event beginning on September 22nd. \nThis event is for everyone who works with youth in the church! Olmsted is partnering with the WPAUMC Conference Staff to offer this training and planning retreat for local youth leaders. Networking is essential to offering the best possible program while also guarding against burnout\, so come to build relationships and take-home new ideas to serve your youth better. WPAUMC Staff Leadership Amanda Mitchell has served on WPAUMC conference staff as the Coordinator of Young People’s Ministry since 2016. Through her Conference position\, Amanda provides resources\, connection\, and leadership to local churches and their young people. Amanda has a degree in Elementary Education from IUP and has volunteered in all types of ministry within the local church. Heather Shoffstall is the Youth Ministry Director for Christ Church Bethel Park. There she focuses on developing the connection between ChristKids\, ChristYouth\, and ChristCollege. Heather works with youth and leaders in the local church\, WPAUMC Conference Youth\, and NEJ Jurisdictional Youth. Course Pricing $250 includes tuition\, materials\, 2-night stay with private room\, and all meals Retreat begins with check-in at Groves Lodge from 3-5pm on Friday. Retreat ends after lunch on Sunday. Participant price includes tuition\, materials\, all meals\, and private hotel-style room with linens. Discount available for those willing to select or be assigned a roommate.
