Allegheny String Quartet

November 8, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Coming November 8th at 7:00pm, the Allegheny String Quartet will bring their program, “Autumn Fugues,” to Kane, PA at the Thomas L. Kane Memorial Chapel. The program will include Mendelssohn’s scarcely performed “Four Pieces for String Quartet,” which the program derives its name from, containing two contrasting fugue movements among a rich, singing first movement and Midsummer Night-esque Scherzo. The “Four Pieces for String Quartet” is a hidden gem in Mendelssohn’s quartet repertoire. Also on the program will be Dvorak’s famous “American” String Quartet. Using American folk songs and spirituals as its musical base, the “American” quartet brings audiences to fall scenes in the country. Come enjoy the changing seasons and an evening of music with your musicians, the Allegheny String Quartet. A freewill donation will be taken at the door and during intermission; please consider supporting your local classical musicians.
